Today my inspiration is this...
April Fools day is my beautiful Grandma Garnette's birthday. She is 96! She lives on top of a mountain in West Virginia. She is an unbelievably strong woman. She had 5 children and became a widow when her youngest was 10. She lives in the same house that all of her kids were born and eats a Honeybun(little debbie processed donut) every morning for breakfast. I have never, ever heard an unkind word come out of her mouth. She always, always, always says in her sweet southern drawl "well, I love you honey" at the end of every conversation I have ever had with her. She has 5 kids, 10 grandkids, 8 great grandkids and 2 great great grandkids. She still sends me and my girls a b-day and C-mas card every year in her own writing.
We could all be so lucky to be like Grandma Garnette!
What a inspiration. Did you pick her because she eats donuts every morning, or because she is as sweet as one?
ReplyDeleteThere is something special about the generation before us. They can offer a lot of wisdom and unconditional love. Just what we need to get through this. So, if you don't mind...I will borrow the beautiful thoughts/images I get of this woman, as my grandparents passed away when I was only a child.
Thanks for sharing Tina.. (p.s. You all are one of my inspirations, too).
She is as sweet as a Honeybun! Maybe there is some sort of preservative in those things that make you live forever?? Whatever she is doing, it is working. The woman has hardly no wrinkles. I am going to find a pic of her and e-mail it....
ReplyDeleteThat's sweet, Tina. I'm sure your grandma would be honored to know she inspires you. You all inspire me too. And my mom, who in her 50's went from a size 22+ to a size 4. It took her a year or two. and even though she drives me crazy, I know if she can do it, I can. I'm just not going to wait til I'm 50!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Size 4 is incredible!! Since I am the oldest by a lot it is encouraging to know you can teach an old dog new tricks!! yay me! I am the old dog!:)
